Today, in the courtyard of Houj Khas Sri Jagannath Temple, New Delhi, on behalf of Prabasi Odia Development Committee, the 591st Coronation Day of Virashri Gajapati Goudeshwar Maharaj Kapilendra Dev was celebrated grandly. Many Odia brothers and sisters, intellectuals, youth and cultural lovers from Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and entire NCR region participated on this occasion.
Dr. Surya Narayan Mishra, President of the Prabasi Odia Development Committee gave a welcome speech and said that, Gajapati Maharaj Kapilendra Dev was not just a king of Odisha, he was a burning symbol of Indian pride, cultural affinity and Hindu strength. When various regions of India were devastated by foreign forces attacks, Kapilendra Dev protected the freedom, culture and religion of Kalinga and expanded the boundaries of the empire from Ganga to Kaveri.
Similarly co-editor Mr. Piyush Mohapatra said, the rule of Kapilendra Dev was the golden age of Odia race. Under his leadership, the Kalinga Empire had not only grown politically strong, but also reached unprecedented heights in cultural, religious and military spheres. His victory story is a source of inspiration for the Odia race even today.
Subham Saswat Prusty said in his speech that, unfortunately, the contribution of Gajapati Maharaj Kapilendra Dev in the mainstream of Indian history did not get that much place as he deserves. This is the call of time to convey their heroism, vision and role of nation building to today’s generation. During the discussion, a detailed discussion was held on Gajapati’s Sultan Vijay Abhiyan, the expansion of Kalinga’s influence in North and South India, the protection of Sri Jagannath culture and his role in the development of Odia national consciousness.
In the last phase of the program, co-editor Dr. Shailendra Kumar Swain ( Sailendra Kumar Swain ) thanked and urged all the expatriate Odia present to be committed to promoting and spreading the glorious history of Kalinga, Odia Asmita and Sri Jagannath culture. He said that, Kapilendra Dev’s life gives us great message of self-esteem, organization power and service to the nation.
